MUSICA IMPERIALE
A New Musical Chapter for Vienna
Musica Imperiale is a concert series dedicated to the rediscovery and fresh interpretation of Vienna’s Imperial musical heritage. Within the most beautiful historic venues of the city—elegant palaces and magnificent churches—you will experience music performed with unparalleled artistic excellence.
The world’s finest soloists interpret masterpieces of the Baroque and Early Classical eras. Acclaimed early music ensembles follow historically informed performance practices, allowing the music to resonate in its authentic voice.
Our concerts immerse you to another realm: where opulence and ornamentation alternate with clarity and transparency. The sound world is immediate and profoundly affecting, creating a unique enchantment: a captivating interplay of form and freedom, beauty, and emotional expressiveness.
Musica Imperiale seamlessly fuses music and architecture, creating an experience of unparalleled and enduring intensity.

A Triumphant Beginning – And the Journey Continues
Following our highly successful launch in June 2025 with the widely acclaimed concert “Mille Affetti,” featuring the Brazilian soprano Bruno de Sá and the Wrocław Baroque Orchestra led by Jarosław Thiel, Musica Imperiale is set to continue.
From 2026 onwards, Musica Imperiale will be established as a multi-day festival: five concerts will take place across various locations over three days—from Friday to Sunday.
Our long-term ambition is to present the festival twice annually—in the spring and late autumn—thereby establishing Vienna as a vital artistic hub for Baroque music in historically informed performance. Music enthusiasts from across Europe and the Viennese audience are warmly invited to rediscover the Baroque era.
Join us on this exciting journey, as together we usher in a new chapter for music in Vienna.
A Festival of Imperial Splendour
The Musica Imperiale festival weekend brings European Baroque musical culture to vibrant life across five extraordinary concerts. From the grace of 18th-century serenatas and the intimacy of sacred masterpieces to the brilliance of virtuoso vocal art, the programme unfolds as a musical journey through the grandeur of Baroque Europe.
Every concert resonates within one of Vienna’s architectural jewels. The State Hall of the Austrian National Library, the Basilica Maria Treu (Piaristenkirche), and the Liechtenstein City Palace are among the planned venues where music, history, and architecture meet in perfect harmony.
The programme celebrates the brilliance of the Baroque age and transforms these historic locations into living stages of artistic renewal, where the sounds of the Imperial past continue to inspire the present.
Musica Imperiale transformes Vienna’s cultural heritage into sound – inviting the audience to rediscover the very splendour that shapes European culture to this day.
